Kurtis Ceppetelli was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada in 1977. He received his B.A. in Fine Arts from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD), where he focused on paintings and sculpture. His work has been described as the breakdown of space by blocks of brilliant colors placed on subject matter such as still life, landscapes, interiors and figures. His compositions seek a balance between figurative and abstraction.
My work is about emotion. I push and pull paint, scrape it, cut it, wipe it and then put it back. It's beautiful and terrifying at the same time. My subjects are usually figures of my own creation or they are metaphors of things going on around me or to me. In some ways I am lost, in others found. MY goal is spiritual; a search for inner peace that may never be found.
Currently he works collaboratively with fellow DC 8 artist Kurtis Ceppetelli together as
