Sarah Koss received her M.F.A. from George Washington University. She has studied biology, conducted laboratory research, and published work in The Journal of Neuroscience. With three undergraduate degrees, from Virginia Tech, in Studio Art, Biology, and Psychology , she credits her science background for strongly influencing her artwork. Although she began graduate school as a painter, her current work encompasses sculpture and focuses on schizophrenic systems.
My artwork represents a meditation on the Akashic Records, and can be considered as a kunstkammer for the antipodes of the mind. While the Internet is often cited as a contemporary metaphor for the Akasha, I see this comparison as overly simplified and linguisized. My artwork is an attempt to create a more effective visual metaphor of a tiny slice of the Akashic system, as experienced through the time and space-binding mechanisms of human awareness.
